This is a piece of artwork that was done by my Great-Uncle Bryce Barker. Uncle Bryce was a wonderful artist, but this piece
is so special to me. It is a 6 foot long board that was removed from the house that is painted in the upper left. The
barb wire that the boards are hung with and the house pictured are all from the Wyoming homestead that my grandmother, Olive (Barker)
Ragan, and great-uncle lived when they were children. All the frames are from the single board and then hung together
with the 4 paintings on the top half and the 2 bottom ones to be handcarved into the board.
The antelope painting is also done by Bryce Barker. It is painted with crushed stone and glue. The frame is from old broken
fenceposts from the West.
This is an oil painting that was done by my grandmother, Olive Ragan. She did not start painting until she was in her sixties.
Because canvas and frames were expensive, my grandmother would improvise and used things such as this oil can lid from a 5 gallon
oil bucket. the unusual rivets in the lid make for an excellent frame to a beautiful painting.
This is an oil-painting by Olive Ragan done on an old saw blade.
This was an oil-painting done by Olive Ragan on canvas.
This is a crushed rock & glue painting done by Bryce Barker. The vibrant reds are unbelievable in this picture especially
thinking that the color only came from rock.
This is a picture of my artistic grandmother, Olive Ragan, and my mother Rosemary Payne in my grandmother's house with some of her
most prized paintings on the wall.
Below are some of my favorite artwork. Some are paintings, others carvings, or just unique pieces that I have decided to share.
Most have a personal connection since they have been done by relatives.
